Privacy Policy

The short version

There is no account and no sign-up. The Compare Snow app collects no personal data and contains no analytics or advertising SDKs. If you turn on location, your coordinates are used on your device to measure distance to each resort and are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.

The Compare Snow mobile apps (iOS and Android)

Location (optional). Ranking resorts by how far they are from you requires knowing where you are, so the app asks for location permission the first time you use that feature. You can decline, and everything else keeps working — distance simply stops contributing to the ranking. The coordinates are held in memory to compute distances and are not stored, logged, or sent anywhere.

Snow and weather data. The app requests forecasts from Open-Meteo. Those requests contain the coordinates of the ski resorts being compared — a fixed list that is identical for every user — never your own position. Open-Meteo therefore cannot learn anything about you from them beyond the ordinary network metadata any web request carries, such as your IP address.

Your preferences. Ranking weights, season passes, units and similar settings are stored locally on your device so the app remembers them between launches. They stay on the device and are removed when you delete the app.

Links out. Buying a lift pass, opening a webcam or viewing a resort video hands you off to the resort’s own website or to a video platform. Once you leave the app, that destination’s privacy policy applies, not this one.

This website

The website performs the same forecast lookups as the app and likewise never asks you to create an account.

Affiliate links. Some accommodation links are affiliate links, served through Travelpayouts. That provider sets cookies and may record that a click came from this site so a booking can be attributed to it. This is how the site is funded. It never influences the rankings — those follow from the data and the weights you choose, and no resort or hotel can pay to rank higher.

Hosting. The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and operational purposes.

What we never do

• Sell or rent your data.
• Build advertising profiles, or run ad or analytics SDKs inside the app.
• Ask for your name, email or payment details in the app.
• Transmit your location off your device.

Children

Neither the app nor the site is directed at children, and neither knowingly collects personal information from anyone.

Your rights

Because the app holds no personal data about you on our side, there is nothing for us to export or erase on request. To remove everything the app has stored locally, delete the app from your device. Location permission can be withdrawn at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
